So, T.I.I. staff Members are nice people who care about helping children and families. BET YOU STILL HAVE SOME QUESTIONS, RIGHT?

GOOD!
We’re here to answer your questions about foster parenting!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT FOSTER PARENTING ARE FREQUENTLY ANSWERED BY STAFF AT THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTIONS, INCORPORATED.
     ASK AWAY!

HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT FOSTER PARENTING THAT WE HOPE TO ANSWER:

WHAT IS THERAPEUTIC FOSTER PARENTING?

Therapeutic foster parenting primarily involves parenting children whose needs and behaviors require professional parents. Therapeutic foster parents excel in working with children whose behaviors and/or conditions have resulted from traumatic life experiences, often beyond their control. Children in T.I.I.'s program receive specialized services and individualized treatment that meets the specific needs of each child. The difference in therapeutic foster parenting and what is often referred to as 'regular' foster parenting is that therapeutic parents are trained to effectively nurture children in therapeutic foster care. T.I.I. and other provider agencies provide services to children that require therapeutic care. These children are not currently served by The Tennessee Department of Children's Services.  D.C.S. works in partnership with agencies like T.I.I. to identify therapeutic homes and therapeutic parenting professionals that are capable of working with therapeutically-classified youth.

What are the youth in therapeutic foster care like?

Children and teens in therapeutic foster care are youths that have often experienced traumatic life circumstances beyond their control. These experiences often result from situations of abuse and neglect and survival behaviors can develop as a result. Children in therapeutic foster care are youths that need professional parents that are skilled in helping them overcome difficult feelings and behaviors associated with trauma. With the help of T.I.I.'s child-specific treatment plan and individualized approach, foster parents are empowered to successfully parent therapeutic children.

How old are the children in T.I.I.’s program?
Therapeutic Interventions, Inc.
admits children into our program that are between the ages of birth and 18 years old. We specialize in providing services for adolescents and teenagers and the need for foster parents for this age range is tremendous. We also admit children into our program that are between the ages of birth and 12 years old, although these children often have older siblings that need a home, too. There is currently a severe shortage of foster parents in Tennessee who are willing to open their home to adolescent youth and teenagers. These children deserve safe and loving homes. Younger children in state custody deserve the opportunity to be placed in a foster home with their older siblings.
You can help!
Teenagers need positive mentors to learn independent living skills and achieve better opportunities in life. T.I.I. serves all age ranges of youth in therapeutic foster care and is actively seeking foster parents for adolescents and teenagers.
